A Better Way to Find the Right People and Opportunities in Kidney Health
From expert insights to career opportunities, Signals Jobs is a new platform designed to connect the community shaping the future of kidney care.
For those who may not know me, I’m a VA patient–turned–founder and former CEO in the kidney space who now writes about the ideas, innovations, and investments shaping this community. Every week, I try to make sense of where things are headed—and why it matters. Over the past couple of years, I’ve shared some of that thinking here with you. This newsletter has opened doors, sparked new conversations, and led to all kinds of unexpected, meaningful connections across the kidney world. Now, it’s time to give those connections a place to grow and take shape.
Today, we’re launching two new tools to help move kidney care forward — the Signals Jobs Board and Expert Network. Both were built with a simple goal in mind: to make it easier for the right people to find the right roles, collaborators, and ideas at the right time. If you’re trying to hire, get hired, or tap into the collective expertise of this community—we built this for you. This is a natural extension of what people have come to expect from Signals, and I couldn’t be more excited to offer a way to support the kidney innovation community across every stage of your career and company journey. If we do this right, we’ll help attract and retain top talent while accelerating progress for teams of all sizes in this space.
If you have a few minutes, I’d love to hear what you think. Drop me a note or leave a comment to share what’s helpful, what could be improved, and how we can make this platform truly useful for your goals.
What’s New
The Jobs Board helps connect top teams and talent across the kidneyverse. Whether you're hiring for a biotech R&D team, building out commercial for your new drug or device, or looking to make your next career move in clinical trials, advocacy, or care delivery — the jobs board 2.0 is now live. Roles are organized by focus area, and every profile submitted is reviewed before going live to keep the signal high. We’ve already seen active listings in biotech, market access, care delivery, and consumer health — and more are on the way. If you’re hiring, you can post as many roles as you'd like. If you’re job-seeking, submit your profile so we can help you get discovered.
The Expert Network connects companies with trusted insights across the kidney health ecosystem. We’ve built a streamlined way for organizations to book expert calls and moderated roundtables with leading voices in the field — including clinicians, researchers, patient advocates, policy experts, and industry veterans.
Whether you're preparing for a pivotal trial, refining your go-to-market strategy, or trying to understand what matters most to patients and frontline teams, we’ll help you connect with the right people at the right time.
We work with companies of all sizes to help them reach critical milestones — from preclinical R&D and regulatory planning to commercialization and early discovery. Kidney care is complex and often difficult to navigate. At any given moment, a handful of people can unlock your next move.
We’re here to help you find them.
The Why Wall captures the heart behind the work. This isn’t just about roles or research — it’s about people, and the reasons they choose to show up in this space every day. In last week’s LinkedIn poll, 123 people responded to the questions: “Do you work in the kidney field? Have you always? Would you? 93% of respondents had worked in the space before, but the vast majority (71%) had worked in other areas, too. When I asked people to share why they joined in the first place (or kept coming back), the answers blew me away.
That’s why we created the Wall, as a place to share those stories. Some are deeply personal. Others are short and powerful. All of them remind us why this work matters.
If you’re new to the field: welcome — we need you.
If you’ve been at this a while: thank you — we wouldn’t be here without you.
A few early ones that stood out:
I went from ICU nurse to doctor. The nephrologists always had the answers and solved the problems. I wanted to grow to be just like them. Never considered another specialty. — Virginia, Nephrology Executive
With my pain became my passion, my "why." I work to advocate and to give patients a voice in the kidney space, in all avenues from research to industry to biotech to pharma to VBC companies. I am just one voice, but a patient’s voice needs to be part of the discussion. — Alex, Patient Advocate
I was a prison nurse and decided I wanted to jump into something with higher clinical acuity outside of the hospital so I looked at dialysis and started working in a chronic clinic. —Justin, Clinical Specialist
Why It Matters
Most people still think kidney care means dialysis. But we know better.
Behind the scenes, this field is being reshaped by breakthroughs in therapeutics, genetics, biotech, new care models, advocacy, policy reform, diagnostics, and design. But those changes only happen when the right people connect. Connections can take years, even when you know where to look. That’s what Signals is here for.
This is the next step in building the infrastructure for that to happen faster.
A place where people who care about kidney health can find each other, collaborate more easily, and keep pushing the field forward. If that’s you — I hope you’ll check it out, share it with your network, and join us.
We have a lot of work to do. Let’s get to it.🐰
Great initiative! Happy to help companies in the community innovating in kidney care.
